Happy Birthday, Nana!
Today is Adam's mom, Carol's, birthday! We wish that we could be there to celebrate with you on your birthday! We got to celebrate with you last year when you came to visit us in Palmdale! Not a day goes by that Noah and Macie don't talk about their Nana. We hope that you have a great birthday. When Adam gets home, we'll call you. My phone is dead and Adam took the car with the charger! Hopefully we can see you soon. Eat lots of cake and ice cream today! Happy Birthday!!

We're too cute.
I GOT A PICTURE OF ALL THREE KIDS LOOKING AT THE CAMERA! I was so excited! Jacob isn't smiling, but he's only 7 weeks old, it's okay! He's looking though! We are making progress!!
I love Sundays. I get to dress up my kids, and they always look so cute! I attempted the curls again for Macie. This time I used plastic ziplocs. They make for a bit bigger curl than just a rag. My next attempt will be the big ziplocs...Maybe the curl will be bigger. I can't just use regular curlers because Macie twirls and pulls her hair at night when she sleeps. So, I have to tie them into her hair. Her hair did look a lot better this morning at church, however. She got lots of compliments, and some people even thought it was natural. We're getting better at it!
Jacob got this outfit from our shower. I think this will be the only Sunday that he wears it. It's a 3 month size, but he's a giant! He's so good at church. We'll see how long that lasts, though. He just sleeps. Even when I think he should eat, he just wants to sleep. It's nice. I had to wake him up to feed him. I was ready...I just wanted him to be ready too!
Noah just is always handsome. He has very few baby features left, if any. He's such a big boy. I can't believe how big he is. Just last night he got out of the tub and I saw his naked bum running into get some underwear. He's so big. And potty trained. Fully potty trained. No more diapers at all, not even at night. I NEVER thought I would see this day. It's almost sad! I guess they can't stay little forever, dangit!

Baby Shower.
Last night I had a baby shower. It was really great. And I am so appreciative of it. I kind of feel bad and guilty about it, but I'm glad I had it. I hate having people get me things. I don't know why, I should love it, right? But I always feel so bad. I don't make lists, even when people ask for them. I usually don't tell people what I want, because they should get what they want to get me. I'm usually content! I don't know what they want to spend, and don't want to offend by saying something that is too much or too little. And I just figure I could get it myself if I really wanted it! I don't know, it's weird. BUT...I am glad that I was able to have this shower.
A few weeks ago, a sister in the ward asked me if her and some other sisters could throw me a baby shower. I didn't want to, but they insisted. So I went along with it. When we moved here, we were in a ward that was dissolved a month after we moved in. We were put into another ward, making it a HUGE ward. And no one knew us. The old ward knew at least each other. We didn't get that luxury. It was actually nice for us, not a big transition, just another ward! So, they wanted to do this shower as more of a get to know you type thing. It was fun. Half the people there I didn't really know, so it was good to get to know them as well. I am always so good with taking pictures, but there was nursing, cake eating, and present opening going on, so I didn't get any pictures. And I even turned around and got my camera after I forgot it at home! Oh well. But, I did walk away with lots of good gifts, all of which, I still feel guilty about.
So, thanks, ladies. It was a fun night. I'm grateful for your hospitality. {and for your cake making skills, it was very yummy!}

Growing BIG.
So...I went to the doctor today. Pretty uneventful. Just the routine 6 week postpartum check up. BUT, I did get to see how much little {I thought he was little, anyway} Jacob weighs. And, oh my goodness, I was shocked. Remember, he was 8 pounds 6 ounces at birth. He's only 7 weeks old. How much do you think he weighs??
I was going to do a little poll and wait a few days, but I can't do that. That would be mean, I know you are all dying to know how much he weighs, huh?? Alright, 15 1/2 pounds! Can you believe it?? Already at 7 weeks. He's not even 2 months old yet and already has nearly doubled his birth weight! Goodness. What a chunk I have!

Jacob and Daddy

Jacob loves his Daddy. He's started smiling so much! He loves to see Macie and Noah. Even though they usually do something to torture him, he loves them! Last night Adam was holding him. Jacob just started cooing and smiling, these huge smiles. It was so cute. I'm never able to get the smile on camera because I'm holding him, and then when he sees the camera, he stops. So I had to get it when he was least expecting it! It was so cute. Just the way that Adam was looking at him and Jacob was looking right back at him. Oh man...so cute. Adam is such a good daddy. My kids all ADORE him. They can't wait until Daddy comes home. They ask if it's time all day long. I'm so grateful that Adam is their Daddy.

Good Morning, Pee Wee
My kids are big fans of Pee Wee's Big Adventure. We watch it at least twice a week. They love it. So much in fact, that they can almost recite the entire movie. Sad, I know. This morning Noah asked for a "Pee Wee breakfast." At first I was confused, until Noah explained he wanted a big pancake with egg eyes and a bacon mouth, so it could talk to him and say, "Good Morning, Noah!" Just like Pee Wee on the movie. My kids are just too funny. So I tried my best to make them a breakfast like Pee Wee, mine doesn't look NEAR as good as his, but it worked for what they wanted it for! And they ate it...everything! Noah isn't a big eater...but if he'll eat a Pee Wee breakfast, I may make it more often! Gotta love Pee Wee Herman!

Jacob the Giant
Jacob is a giant. He is getting so big! I can't beleive how fast he is growing. He looks so much bigger everyday! Macie and Noah still love him to death! They are always in his face and now always making him smile. He really is such a happy smiley baby! We don't get that on camera, but just trust us! This morning Macie was playing with her baby stroller, pushing it around the house, but there wasn't a baby in it. So, I put Jacob in. I think this was Macie's favorite thing EVER! She giggled and giggled and just loved that Baby Jacob was in her stroller! I'm kind of afraid she'll try it on her own. We'll just have to keep an EXTRA eye out for poor Jakey! He looks so big, doesn't he? A LOT older than 6 weeks, I think! He's eating right now, but I think I'm going to go just snuggle up with him, while he still curls up into a little ball against me. He's not going to be little forever, I have to milk this for all it's worth!!

Really?
So, as previously posted, I had the opportunity to drive down to Santa Barbara and listen to Julie B. Beck. It was a great experience, a very spiritual experience. BUT...as I sat down, I sat in the backish. On the hard chairs that were set up in the Cultural Hall of the church. I sat down behind another girl who had a baby not much older than Jacob, with CRAZY long blond hair that just stood up everywhere...it was pretty cute! But I looked over to my left, and across the isle and a row up a lady had a dog on her lap. Yes...a DOG! One of those little dogs with the longer hair. The yappy dogs. I had to do a double take to make sure that this lady brought a dog to a church function...in the church. As much as I didn't want to believe it, she did have a dog on her lap. Not only, though, did she have a dog on her lap. This dog was sitting on a fleece blanket, which had been tied and doggy sized. Oh, but wait...it gets better. This dog had a bow in her hair. A bow! There's more. It was wearing a DRESS! I was shocked. I was trying so hard not just start laughing...but no one else seemed as surprised and sickened as me. I was sitting through the meeting, trying to ignore this lady and her beloved dog, but it really was the biggest distraction to me as she would pet this dog, and hold it up like a baby and hold it over her shoulder. But then the lady did something that took the cake. You would think that just taking a dog to church in a dress and bow would have done that, right? But, no...she pulled out a bottle. A dog bottle and started feeding her dog. Are you kidding me??
I was sitting there holding my baby...my human baby, and this lady was holding her dog. Okay, I'm not a big pet person. I didn't have a pet growing up. We got a cat when I was 17...but I had already decided that I didn't like pets, so I never was attached to Punkin. She wasn't just an indoor cat, either, so I didn't know where her little paws had been or what she had been eating, and honestly, I didn't want to know...so I just kept my distance. But, I cannot understand how and why pets are treated like humans. I can see loving a pet, and caring for it...AT HOME. But, dressing it up, taking it every where you go, treating it as a child...that's too much for me. I was at Target the other day, the day Noah got lost, actually, and there was a girl who was holding a "baby". It was swaddled in a blanket and looked very little. I just assumed it was a very new baby. But the girl didn't look like she had just had a baby. She was with a lady who I assumed was probably her mother, but there wasn't a baby seat in the cart, so I wondered. So, since I just had a baby, and am more aware of the babies around me, I asked her how old her baby was because it looked teeny, and she didn't have a baby. She had a dog. She was holding it like a baby, treating it like a baby, but no...it was a dog. A dog is NOT human. Yes, it has a heart and breaths...but it is not a person. Back in July, Noah was in the ER after multiple seizures. I had taken Macie outside for a walk, because it isn't fun to be cooped up in the ER "room" for too long, as we wait for the IV fluid to empty. As I was coming back in to enter the ER again, I had to wait for someone to come and open the door for me. I would hear a lady totally irate. She was yelling at the poor admitting people. She had a stroller, and the people wouldn't let her bring the stroller back to the back where the lady's husband was. Inside her stroller, was a dog. They explained to her that for sanitation purposes, they would not let an animal back. The lady pointed to me, holding Macie, and said, "You let that child go back there, this is my child, why not let us back?" Okay, lady, my child is HUMAN. What ever happened to living dogs home? When you walk in the door, they get so excited to see you, wagging their tail and yapping for you...is that no longer?
Julie Beck said something on Saturday, if we don't have children, who will? The world thinks a pet is okay. Less work. I don't want to offend people. I do understand that pets can fill a void in people's lives. That, I am totally cool with. Have your pets. I can see that they are special to you, and to a degree, part of the family. If I were a pet person, I would probably be loving my pet, too. I would make sure it was fed, clean, happy, and every need met. But, I wouldn't dress it up, take it with me EVERYWHERE I went, put it in a ridiculous stroller, and treat it like a human child. It's really just people with dogs. I have yet to see a cat in a dress!
If you have the option...why pick the pet? I hope that I didn't offend. Pets are great, they make people happy. That's great...it's the dressing them up and treating them as if they were an actual baby all day, everyday, that gets me. Dogs don't belong at church.

Julie B. Beck

On Saturday I had the oppotunity of going down to Santa Barbara to listen to Julie B. Beck, the General Relief Society President. She was down for a Regional Conference, I think, and they invited the neighboring Stakes to participate. It was really great. She gave a lot of good insights on many many things. Her way of speaking was very personable. She was able to relate to all of us, even in different stages in life. It was good. One thing that she said that I keep thinking about was that having children isn't just to fulfill us...it's to bring a spirit into this world. If we, as LDS women don't do this, and fulfill our role, not many other people will. And, sadly, that's true. I look at the world today, and see how much it is changing, children aren't as important anymore. Why have children when you can have a dog? {this will be a post in itself...just wait!} But, I'm so grateful for the opportunity that I have to be a mother. Not only am I making myself happy, but I have the chance to bring another little Spirit into this world, giving them the opportunity to participate in the Plan of Salvation and come to Earth and receive a body in order to return to live with Him again. I am glad I had the opportunity to go listen to Sister Beck, even though it was an hour drive, it was well worth it. I took Jacob with me, and he was so good, just slept pretty much the entire time! I'm liking these sleeping days, but I'm thinking they will end soon! But, for now, I'll just enjoy my little baby.
