So, I've seen a few other blogs that have done this, so I thought I'd try it. There are a lot of weirdos in the world today, and I got a whoppin' 39 hits on my blog yesterday! That's more than I would have thought, since I don't have very many blogs on my list! So...would you please leave me a comment, so I kind of know who's looking at my blog? I love making reconnections through blogging. I know how it is though, I am a blog stalker myself! And maybe I just like to get comments! But I'd appreciate it, just so I can get a better idea as to where all of my visitors are coming from! Thanks!

You're right, Dad!
I remember many occasions growing, probably more than I should admit, that my dad told me not to pull on the cord to unplug something from the wall. Of course, I never listened. It was just so much more convenient to pull on the cord. I guess I was lazy. Well, I'm not much less lazy these days! I still pull on the cord. I've been doing it for 25 years, I've never had anything bad happen, I just figured it was fine, and everyone else was being technical. Well, I have to buy a new iron. For the past 4 years that we have had the iron, I have pretty much pulled on the cord to unplug it. I didn't see any harm in it. Adam said something about it a few times, but yet again, I thought I was smarter, who cares, right? I use an iron a lot. My clothes have to be completely wrinkle free before I wear them. Even jeans. So I pretty much use the iron daily. And that daily tugging on the cord just wore it out. I pulled on it for the last time. The plug stayed plugged into the wall, and the cord was in my hand. I unplugged the plug from the outlet and got a nice little shock, and then blew the fuse. Now I know not to pull on the cord. I started doing research online of the topic, and I found that it could have started a fire, I could have been shocked a lot worse, and many many things could have happened. Luckily, they didn't. So, I just wanted to tell my dad that he was right all of those years. I should have listened the first time. Adam has even told me not to do it, many people have probably tolf mr not to do it, but I'm just too stubborn! Don't worry, I learned my lesson!

Noah
Noah had an appointment with a pediatric neurologist in Los Angeles yesterday. So, Adam took the day off so we could go together. We had to leave at 6 in order to get through traffic and make the 9AM appointment. It was killer. But, well worth it. For those who don't know about Noah's history, he's been diagnosed with Generalized Epilepsy. On our way down the appointment we realized that we didn't bring all of his medical history with us and the doctor notes from his visit with the neurologist at Primary Children's in Salt Lake. So, we had to make a write up of all of his seizures that he has had. Sadly, we remembered every one, like they had just happened. I know he's only 3, so it's only been 2 and a half years since they started, but it seems like forever. But, the images of seeing your child go through something like that never fade. It made me emotional to start thinking about every one of them again.
His first was when he was only 8 months old. I panicked, and didn't watch the whole thing. I couldn't see my baby like that. It was bad enough that it had started when I was nursing him. But that one was with a fever. And then at 12 months, in November of 2005, he had his second. He ended up having an ear infection, but didn't really show signs of being sick before that, Adam was holding him then. His next was in February of 2006. Adam was at a competition for school in Reno, and I had taken Noah down to Idaho Falls. He didn't show any signs of fever or anything, but had a seizure in the car as I was driving down 17th Street. I was scared to death. I called 911 and they met me at a park, but rather than take him out of his carseat while he was still in a post seizure state, they followed me to the hospital. We spent the day in the ER with multiple tests and xrays, but there wasn't anything wrong with him. We left the ER and went to Fazoli's for dinner, where he had another. We rushed him back and he was admitted, and stayed for 3 days. It was then he was diagnosed with epilepsy and placed on a medicine. He was fine for a while until June when he had another in the car and was hospitalized. In July he started having multiple seizures a day. It was up to 10 a day, and he was hospitalized for another 5 days. He underwent EEGs, MRIs, cat scans, spinal taps, and everything came back normal, thus confirming the generalized epilepsy, meaning they don't know the cause. His medicine changed, but it caused him to experience a halt in development. His speech didn't progress for a while, and I noticed a notable change in how much he was learning. It took him a few months for his body to regulate the medicine better, and then he picked right back up and is pretty much in line with the other kids his age now with speech and things. He did have one more minor febrile, or with fever, seizure in Januray of this year, but it was te mildest he has had. Usually after he had a seizure he will cry for a while and then sleep for hours, but he was talking right after this one and didn't cry, which was a good thing. His seizures aren't life threatening, just scary. Studies have been done on seizures. And the say that each grand mal seizure, which is when the whole body convulses, is like running a marathon. So when he was having 10 a day, his body thought he had just ran 240 miles! Or however many miles a marathon is! Poor kid, he run a lot of marathons in his life! Probably around 25!
Anyway, I've gotten off track! I am just so grateful for modern medicine. And to have such wonderful doctors that are there for us. I don't know what we would do had we not taken Noah to the ER after every seizure. We were able to get great care, even though there was no real cause as to why he had the seizures, but the precautions were there so he wouldn't have any more. He has basically been seizure free with his medicine. And we are putting him on a different medicine. A medicine that does not have any learning and development side effects like the one he is on now! I am also grateful for Priesthood blessings. Noah has had many of them during his rough times. And not only have they helped him recover, but have helped us as parents know that he will be okay. He's a special kid, that Noah. We've been through a lot with him. I can always see him in the hospital, with his little gown on, and IVs in his arms and monitors everywhere, and him signing I love you to everyone and having a little smile. And when we would take him on rides in the little wagon they have. IT's so sad to have those memories. It was only for a few days out of his life, but just to have to remember him in the hospital is heartbreaking. A little boy as sweet as Noah shouldn't have to go through that. But since he does, I know that he will be okay. He's a happy kid, really he doesn't remember it. He just lives everyday, and is just happy about life. We should all be like that. No matter what is pushed at us, we should know that we can get through it. Our Heavenly Father is there to help us on our way. Anyway, to make a long story short, I'm grateful for modern medicine and the opportunity we had to take Noah to a specialist and get the care he needs.

Nursing
So, I have to post this, and see what I get! Macie is the world's best nurser! Seriously. She is 19 months old and still nursing every 3 hours or so. And she INSISTS that she nurse. She pulls on my shirt and screams until she gets it. She literally came out hungry, wanting to nurse! When she was born, they cleaned her off, and we took a few pictures, but within 10 minutes of birth she was latching on and nursing. I don't know what to do with her. I'm thinking that it's time to wean her. She's getting a little big, and she just squirms around a lot while nursing. But she is pretty talented. She can play, talk, and pretty much crawl while nursing. I don't know how she does it, but nothing gets in the way of her nursing! I'm telling you, she is the world's best nurser. The doctor didn't think I would still have enough milk for her, so he had me pump a bottle. And sure enough, I was able to pump a 6 ounce bottle in no time, with a good layer of fat! I don't know what it is, but I've still got enough for her, and she just wants to nurse. She won't drink anything else, really. Or eat much either. I know what you're thinking, she's pretty big. You probably think I'm joking that she doesn't eat other things, but seriously, she doesn't. I always thought she would eat things, but then later find them in her carseat or in the folds of the high chair cover. She really doesn't eat much else. I need help or I'll still be nursing her until she in kindergarten! Any ideas? I don't want her to miss out on essential nutrients, and I think she needs more than just breastmilk now, but I can't get her to stop! I've tried just waiting it out, but she really will not eat until she nurses. She went about 11 hours with nothing. Just because she refused to eat. I don't want to starve my poor girl! I'm a sucker though...I can't see her sad. It just breaks my heart. What should I do?

Picasa forgot some. I don't know what the deal is with Picasa...maybe I can only post 5 pictures? I don't know. But here are the other two.

I'll probably get in trouble posting this, but oh well. I was walking through the mall today and the girl at the picture place stopped me and asked if she could take pictures of the kids, and then I would get a free 8x10. I heard the word free, and couldn't resist! The only problem was that the photographer got to pick the backgrounds and poses. I have issues with that! I know what I want and what she did, really isn't what I would have wanted, but hey it was free, right?! I don't really like the backgrounds so much. You know that they really aren't in a garden or whatever! I just like clean solid backgrounds. Usually just white or black. The other colors are weird sometimes. I like them sometimes, though. I'm just really picky when it comes to pictures. I want to be able to look back at them and like them, not wonder what in the heck I was thinking! Ya know? My kids weren't dressed as I would have normally dressed them for pictures, but that's okay...I'm getting over that! I sound like the biggest snob! Just about pictures, I promise! Anyway, some turned out alright. Noah is my little picture taken, now! Macie didn't really care, and didn't really want to have anything to do with it! But I got my free picture. They get ya though. Now I think I need to go back and spend money for actual pictures of them in their nice clothes and nice backgrounds. Oh well...I guess it's inevitable, I should do it anyway!

Let's go fly a kite!
I bought Noah this kite at Target in the dollar section a long time ago. But I had since forgotten about it! But it was perfect weather today. It's warming up. It was 77 at 11, so I thought we all needed to play outside! And then I rememebered the kite! In Palmdale it is always windy. I don't think it ever stops! Today was just breezy. Perfect for flying a kite. So, I put the kite together. It's a pretty good kite for only a dollar. It's made of like actual fabric. Not those cheap plastic kites. And it's shaped like all of the books and movies portray a kite. And to top it all off, it had a tail. Noah thought this was the best thing ever! He hadn't ever flown a kite before, so he was getting very excited! I handed him the string and instructed him to not let go, and sent him running. It was so funny. He loved it. He was giggling. It was great. He was very intent at keeping that kite in the air. He discovered that if you move the string, the kite moves too. This was pretty cool. He was in control of the kite, and he liked it. It only fell once during our 20 minute kite flying! Which was pretty impressive. A few kids rode by on their bikes and awwed at Noah's kite. He was so proud. It was actually fun. I enjoyed it, too. Macie got a turn, but she didn't get it as much as Noah. Her kite flying didn't last long. But it was fun. I'm sure that we'll fly more kites. Maybe it'll become a daily activity, who knows! But we have perfect weather for it...warm and breezy. I guess there is a good thing about Palmdale, California!

Grr...I can't get these pictures to post. We'll try it yet again! These are the pictures that wouldn't ever show up from the Bon Jovi Blaze of Glory post. I don't know what the deal is!

The shoes
I love good deals. I went to Ross today, and found Macie the cutest shoes, and they were on sale! Would I buy anything that wasn't? The Ross here is pretty good. The one in Idaho Falls, not so much! Anyway, Not only were they cute, but they were Nike, and they were only 8 bucks! She loves them. Noah told her that she can run fast in them, so as soon as I put them on her feet, she started running real fast. And doing her little pant, to make sure everyone else knows she's running real fast! I was pretty excited about the new shoes, so I thought I'd share it with everyone! I know, I'm a nerd! But, black for little girls is hard to find, but it's so dang cute! Macie is getting quite the shoe collection. She went from having no shoes at all because her feet were so stinken' chubby, to a plethora of shoes! Her feet are slimming down a bit. And she's a girl. A girl needs her shoes!

Blaze of Glory
My sister Erin came down for the week last week. She had already planned her trip and bough plane tickets when she found out that Bon Jovi was going to be in Anaheim. If you know Erin, you know how much of a Bon Jovi fan she is! She even went clear to New Jersey just to see him in concert! So, of course, she was going to go. And she invited me to go along with her. She didn't say much about the tickets or the concert, really. I said something about hoping she got good seats, and she's like I'm pretty sure they are good, but that's all she said. So, we got to the Honda Center in Anaheim and asked the usher where our section was, they gave us this look, and led us down the stairs. And then more stairs until we got to the floor, and then we walked toward the stage, and we kept walking...and walking, yeah we were on the 3rd row on the floor. They were pretty good seats! She was SO excited, this was the closest she had ever been to him. And she was going crazy. I was too close to her to take good pictures of her, but it was almost worth it just to watch her! It was so funny! I was the photographer, so she could enjoy the concert more, which I was okay with! It was a good concert. Adam didn't do so well with the kids at home, well, at least Macie. She still insists that she nurses every 3 hours or so. That girl, I don't know what I'll do with her! But everyone survived! It was the last day before Erin had to leave, so she left California with a bang!
