Writing

Jacob loves to write. However, his writing is usually just scribbles, and he expects you to know exactly what he just wrote! This was especially difficult around Christmas time. I would point to a line and say that I wasn't sure what it said, and he said, "It's okay, Santa can read it. You don't have to." Uh oh. He probably didn't end up with that for Christmas!

But, everyday, all day, Jacob "writes". I have several notes from him...and sadly have had to throw some away, although they were cute, I just can't keep the piles and piles of papers around! He also gives them to everyone..even sleeping Miles gets notes!

Daddy Daughter Dance

Macie was over the moon excited when she brought home the flyer about the Daddy Daughter Dance! She could not even stand it! She seriously counted down the days..and hours! We went dress shopping for the perfect dress. Kinda like Prom, really! But, little girls dresses are a heck of a lot cheaper than actual Prom dresses...I'm kind of dreading those years!

Adam wanted to buy her a corsage, but they were a little pricey. And because we're cheap, we decided to just make one! It didn't turn out to terrible, really. However, it didn't last all night...but oh well!

They both had the best time! Macie loved having her Daddy all to her self. She shows us how her and daddy both danced...and I'm kinda glad I wasn't there! ;-)

Little Mama

Macie is the best helper. She is really the only one that really knows how to hold a baby and enjoys doing it...well, as long as he isn't wet or poopy! She loves to just cuddle with him on the couch and watch tv or just hold him. She's my go to girl when I have to go to the bathroom or take a shower, she just sits and loves him. It's nice having a child who is old enough and responsible enough to watch a newborn! Noah loves him and likes to hold him, but his legos are a little more entertaining. But, Miles will soon grow out of the "boring" newborn stage, which I love, and be a little more interactive, which Noah will love! For now, though, I'll take advantage of my Little Mama Macie!

Blessed

I know, I know, he's only 12 days old. But, we blessed Miles on Sunday. My mom and dad came to see Miles for the first time, and Carol came as well. It seemed perfect to bless him then, and we don't usually wait long anyway! The first Fast Sunday after the baby is born is usually when we bless them, no matter what! And Miles was no exception. I did, however, think he was going to be born a lot earlier in January! I had bought his blessing outfit in a newborn size months ago, thinking he was going to be early and small. I had no idea that he would be late and NINE POUNDS at birth! But just in case, I did buy the 3 month size outfit, too. And, he wore the 3 month size...at 12 days old! He's my chunker for sure!

It was really nice to have my parents there and Adam's mom. Adam's cousin, Jared, who lives in Santa Monica came as well, along with his friend Adam, who he has known for years and who lives in Redondo Beach. Adam gave a wonderful blessing to Baby Miles, as usual. And I was able to listen to every word. There was no lapel microphone to malfunction or no screaming two year old to ruin the blessing! ;-)

I am very blessed to be Miles' mom. He is a perfect addition to our family. In his short time here with us, I can't even imagine life without him.

jealous?

We haven't ever really had a jealous sibling...until now. Avila is a complete Mama's girl. I was always a little worried how she was going to handle adding another one to the mix. And, she pretty much responded exactly how I had envisioned. There are times that she loves Baby Miles a ton...but there are times where she just pretends that he doesn't exist, and just wants Mama time. This is usually when it's time to nurse the little guy. She doesn't like nursing. Nighttime is a little rough. Embarrassingly, she is still in our bed. Luckily, we have a California King, but still, she's in our bed regardless of the size. Yes, she is 2 and a half. She hates that I can't cuddle with her at night when I am feeding the baby. And, I admit, I feel awful that I can't just cuddle with her all night long. Which is probably the reason that she is still in our bed to begin with! But, she's adjusting. She sometimes even asks to hold and kiss the baby. Babysteps...

Macie sews!

Macie is a crafty little girl. She loves anything and everything craft related. She is always cutting paper to make things or just planning her next craft. She has talked about not having enough Barbie clothes. When I told her that Momo used to make her own Barbie clothes, she decided that she wanted to learn to sew. She originally had planned for this summer, but Santa surprised her earlier and got her a little sewing machine just her size. Adam was a bit skeptical. He thinks she is going to sew her fingers, because he is certain that a needle went through his finger when he was little. But, I'm pretty sure that the needle went through his finger by him actually putting it under the needle and stepping on the pedal. You would have to actually work for that! I'm pretty confident that she will be fine.

She asked for her first sewing lesson. We sewed a pillow. I threaded the needle for her and used the pedal while she guided the fabric. She did really well. A lot better than I did in seventh grade Home Ec! And now she has a pillow on her bed that she sewed, and she is quite proud of it!

I'm excited that she is so excited about it! I'm sure there will be many more "lessons" and she'll eventually learn more than me, I don't know much! I just call Mom! But, it's a fun thing for her and I to do.

Maybe I'll start making her make her own clothes!

It's time.

Well, not really. I wish it was time, but this little baby has other plans, apparently. My due date is on Saturday, but, sadly, I can go two weeks past that, technically. I honestly don't think I physically/emotionally can, however. This little babe needs to come out! For one, I don't think I can stretch any more. And second, I am so uncomfortable that I can't sleep for longer than like 3 hours a night without being in tears. So, it's time.

Any time you're ready, you can come out. We're ready for you!

2014

With a new year comes new possibilities, and maybe new beginnings for this poor neglected, well thought of blog. Seriously, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think to myself, "I'm going to blog about that", and then I never do. facebook and instagram are just so instant. I don't have to actaully be sitting down and consciously thinking about posting something there...I just do it at the stoplight, or while waiting for kids at school.

I know my audience has dwindled. BUT, there are important family members who don't have facebook or instagram, or who check their e-mail enough to get glimpses of my kids lives as often since we live so far away! And, for them, I want to try that much harder to update more frequently. Maybe just once a month, but something that captures my family and what we do.

{New Years Eve 2013. Please ignore that I look like death. Remember, I am about 12 months...give or take a few months...pregnant! ;-)}

Here's to the New Year!!

Taylor Swift Party

What kind of request if a Taylor Swift Party? What on earth do you do at a Taylor Swift Party? Will all seven year olds even know who she is? Macie was insistent on a Taylor Swift Party. She had it all planned...they would dance the whole time, and she would give Cory's paper dolls as party favors. And that was that.

All year we have been talking about her Taylor Swift party. I had wanted to take her to the concert, but missed out on the cheap tickets, and because I'm so cheap, didn't want to pay an arm and a leg to get them. So, we settled for the party. I knew that there needed to more than just dancing...but couldn't think of many things. Pinterest really wasn't a help either. Apparently it isn't a common theme. Imagine that.

I tried to make the invite close to the CD cover. It wasn't too close, but you got the idea!

The party was red glitter filled. We will be cleaning up red glitter for years, I'm sure! I am killing myself that I didn't get a picture of the girls with their cardboard guitars that they made. I had planned to take on under the banner thing, but completely spaced it. That is one reason why pregnant moms shouldn't do birthday parties! I got Macie's picture under it, so I guess that was enough! I also had planned to draw a "13" on their hands...just like Taylor, but a mom ended up staying, and I don't think she would have been too keen on that idea. Had she not been there, I would have just done it, and suffered the consequences later, but oh well. They still had fun! We made bracelets first, then decorated guitars with red glitter...they even had a red glitter tulle strap. Yes, glitter everywhere I tell you. Everywhere. I found heart sunnies and spray painted them red to get the "Taylor" look.

And yes, they all did get exclusive PaperDolls by Cory Taylor Swift paper dolls. I wanted to do red lipstick, but they are seven. So, we went with nail polish instead! They love, love, loved the paper dolls! And I'm pretty sure they are the only ones in the world who have a set. Right, Cory??

It was fun party with lots of dancing. It was a good choice, and no one will have a party quite like it! Happy Birthday, my little Taylor loving seven year old!
